I joined a local fitness center after retiring in early 2007.  My job kept me tied to a desk without much opportunity for walking around.  In my younger years, I was very active, going to aerobics classes at local studios up to five times a week.  Needless to say I was ready to get “fit.”

I met Erin Boyer for an evaluation and goal setting session and progressed slowly.  My cardiovascular strength improved but I wasn’t losing inches or weight.  It wasn’t until I hired Erin at the beginning of 2008 as my Personal Trainer that things started happening.  She created workouts that changed every three weeks with the focus on strength training and my commitment to pursue cardio work on my own.  Erin kept the workouts enjoyable with variation, but she still pushed me to try another set or a higher weight or increase my reps.  She explained what muscle groups we were working with a particular exercise, made sure my form was correct to prevent injuries and counted.  Thank heavens she counted!  You can get so caught up in just doing the work you forget to count.

Working with her two to three times a week for six months has taught me a lot about workouts and my abilities.  I was able to lose body fat, increase lean muscle mass, lose inches while maintaining an even weight.  I am stronger, sleep better and feel less stressed.

Erin really enjoys personal training.  She keeps you on your toes and will push you subtly to do more, yet she is perceptive and will change an exercise when something hurts or doesn’t feel quite right in order to perform the moves correctly.  Her education, experience and personality make her a great trainer.

Wendy has been my trainer since January 2008.  I hit my highest weight of 178 in December 2006. (I'm only 5' 6" with an average frame.)  I was able to lose a few pounds over the next year by off-and-on dieting, but I soon stalled out and stopped making progress.  For Christmas 2007, my family all chipped in to purchase personal training sessions for me (at my request!) and that's when I met Wendy.

Wendy's made a huge difference in my life.  Since I have known her, I have lost weight, body fat, and inches.  My self-esteem has increased, as well as my confidence and energy.  I even inspired two of my best friends to start training with Wendy, and then one of them got her husband training as well!  With Wendy's help, I've even started training to complete a marathon in the New Mexico desert this Spring.

We've all seen the bad trainers: those who don't challenge their clients, who have the same boring workout every time, who drive away their clients with belittlement, rudeness, and negative "encouragement."  For myself--as an optimistic, hopeful, but sometimes lazy person--I need a trainer that who is not only positive and encouraging, but also with a steel edge.  Wendy is never harsh, critical, or judgmental.  She does not insult her clients, but always has the faith in them that they themselves may lack.  She's always encouraging as they try to complete that last set of exercises.

Every session with Wendy is a delight.  Each workout is different and Wendy offers a wide variety of exercises.  Sometimes, I even remember exercise we haven't done in several months, and she's quick to say, "We'll have to do that next week!"  She has a wealth of knowledge and experience that she brings to every appointment.  This same knowledge and experience enables her to know when to push a client, and when to let them back off.  I've never been injured when training with Wendy because she makes sure my form is right, and she is quick to answer questions and offer further instructions.

I love the results I've gotten with Wendy.  But the value I place on training with Wendy goes beyond the results.  By training with Wendy, I've finally found a form of exercise that I want to keep doing week in and week out, exercise that I truly enjoy.  I enjoy the workouts so much, that the results have just become icing on the cake!

Personal training with Wendy has been a life altering experience for me. I have been training with Wendy for two years now, and I am extremely happy with the results. So far I have lost a total of 4% Body Fat, 23 inches, and 35 pounds! Even though there have been two times that I have hit plateau, Wendy has been able to encourage me and even change my exercise routine to get over that hump. Also there have been times when I gained weight, but Wendy was there to give me hope and the courage to keep going. My husband has even joined me at these sessions because he was impressed with my results, and it was a way to work out together as a family, which Wendy was more than happy to comply.

I like Wendy’s training methods because she is never boring. She constantly uses different routines, and she also uses a lot of combination exercises that works out the entire body. Plus, not only does she apply strength training exercises, she also develops moves that involve cardio training, which is great because I don’t have to use a boring treadmill to get my heart rate up.

Wendy even trained me for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon this year. I am 32 years old and was able to walk my first marathon! I have never done anything like this my entire life, and it felt very good to complete a feat like this. I know next year I can do it again and beat my time with Wendy’s expertise!

I’ve always enjoyed exercising and picked up running seriously in 2002. I ran numerous races and half marathons over the next few years, but it took its toll on me and I had to give up running and with that the weight began to pile on.  I took up cycling and while I enjoyed it, it did not do the same for me that running had done so I needed to find another outlet.  In Aug 2010 someone mentioned a boot camp class at the local park – I’ve always enjoyed a challenge and though what the heck I’d give it a shot.

So I started going and while I liked it, it wasn’t what I had expected and didn’t really give me the challenge I had hoped for.  I had a few friends that had gone to the morning class and had Wendy as an instructor and raved about how awesome she was.  So the next session I decided I’d try her class.  I have had numerous aerobics and such classes over the years, but never have enjoyed a class as much as I have with Wendy.  Class was at 5:30 in the morning and I looked forward to getting up and going.  There was always something different about each class.  And class was fun!!!!  It never seemed like it was an hour.  It never dragged on or seemed like it would never end.

Due to the damage to my knee I had to make adjustments, but I always had an intense workout and never had any problems making modifications.  I never left a class feeling that I didn’t have a good workout.  I did a few sessions with Wendy and while I enjoyed it, it did not work out with my work schedule so I needed to make adjustments.  So I began the on-line training sessions with Wendy.

I knew what I needed to do to get my cardio in, but needed help with the weight part – and that’s what Wendy has added to my workout.  I’ve lost inches, body fat and pounds and feel better about myself.  I still have a ways to go, but know that with a plan like Wendy’s, I will be able to succeed.
